CdA founder, Pat McCully, recently returned from a trip to Jinotega. She took the photos below. The computers we were using for community computer classes are so old, they won't work any longer. Needless to say, computer certification classes have stopped, but we're hopeful that sponsors will have a solution. Do you, or someone you know, have an old computer you'd like to donate to CdA? For transportation purposes, laptops are the best. We're looking for computers that are just a few years old and in working order. If you can help, please email Liz at treasurer@camigas.org.
Yes, you are looking at disk drives. Haven't seen those in years!
Old computers.

I can attest to the urgent need for a few new computers here. I might also suggest, in addition to donating, newer, gently used computers, cash donations of $350 would probably be able to buy new computers here, without the cost of shipping and hassle of customs.
ReplyDeleteAlso, used, licensed copies of Windows XP or higher would also be nice. It is hard to properly maintain a computer that does not have a valid copy of Windows installed. (I´d love to switch the campus computers to Linux - which is free and stable - but that would present an whole other set of problems.)
